Dwip is being brought to court | Source: TBS
A Dhaka court on Saturday placed Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dip on a four-day remand in connection with a case filed for murder of former Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri.
Metropolitan Magistrate Hasib Ullah Pias passed the order after River Police Inspector Firoz Uddin sought a seven-day remand. Tahsif's father, KM Enayetul Karim Helal, filed the murder case with Uttarkhan Police Station against unidentified suspects at 1:05am.
After arresting Dip on 29 October, police sought remand to establish the motive for the murder, locate the crime scene and recover Tahsif's motorcycle.
CCTV footage from 27 October shows Tahsif and a woman arriving at Nest Restaurant & Bar in Uttara’s Sector 11 at 10:17pm. About 90 minutes later, they were joined by Dip, who arrived on a separate motorcycle wearing a helmet.
Investigators said they dropped the woman at her home before heading to Tongi's Mazar Basti.
Prosecutor Azizul Haque Didar said Tahsif may have been killed for filming Sheikh Hasina fleeing on 5 August 2024.
Defence lawyers Monirul Islam and Mutasim Billah said Dwip cooperated, questioned a 2:00am drug-den visit and suspected suicide as Tahsif's body lacked injury marks.
