Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said on Tuesday evening that around US$6.3 billion in potential Japanese private-sector investment could accelerate Bangladesh's industrialisation, expand manufacturing capacity and create opportunities for its young workforce.

Writing on Facebook after his Kantei summit, he called for deepening multifaceted ties for a prosperous Indo-Pacific and translating the strategic partnership into tangible public opportunities.

Both sides also explored approximately US$320 million under Japan's Partnership for Power Asia and a ministerial-level joint commission for concrete results.

To drive innovation, the prime minister proposed a Bangladesh-Japan Tech Park for artificial intelligence, cloud computing, robotics, electronics manufacturing and advanced technologies. Discussions also covered space science, satellite engineering and Japanese technical and financial support for high-speed rail linking six major divisional cities.

Positioning Bangladesh as a South and Southeast Asian bridge, Tarique Rahman recalled Japan's early recognition of Bangladesh's independence and bilateral foundations laid by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and strengthened by late Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He will also address the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Forum and visit industrial and energy facilities.
